Thursday, 1 hour into Ken's Rituxin therapy. He is doing great. We have had a tough 24 hours, but we are now on the road to recovery. Ken was pretty sick after his cat scan, so he wasn't able to eat at all yesterday. He was pretty miserable, we think from the contrast they made him drink before the scan. So he went to bed early and woke to a meeting with his oncologist. She told Ken that from the looks of his scan, his lymphoma is more spread than we thought. If we care about a stage, she says it is at least stage 3. She can't tell if it is stage 4 unless she does a bone marrow test. She said there isn't a reason to do that test because the treatment would be the same. She still thinks the Rituxin will work great and do it's magic. Let's hope so.
The Rituxin is a designer drug in that it targets only bad cells, kinda like a sniper. There are no side effects once the drug is finished dripping. They do watch pretty close the 1st hour for an allergic reaction. And we are happy to say that he is almost into his third hour and we haven't had any problems. So hopefully, we are clear sailing from here. The plan is to give him the treatment today, another on Saturday, and send him home on Sunday. Monday will start treatments in the harmony office.
Hugs to all of you. Bev and Ken
